How about a scene from underground? These galleries run for kilometers and lead far into the countryside. The last abbess here fled this way when the Revolutionaries took over in 1792. She disappeared for six years and was found again in Paris when things were a bit calmer. Napoleon turned this place into a prison and these galleries were a problem for him, too. It was too easy to get away, so they turned them into sewers and latrines. That helped disuade a few would-be runaways.
